River Valley Behavioral Health: NOMOREBOXES

A substance use prevention campaign that didn't lecture teenagers. It listened to them. Then it let them speak for themselves inside a box made of light.

The Challenge

Stop scaring teenagers. Start talking to them.

Most teen prevention campaigns run on fear. Mugshots, consequences, before-and-afters. It doesn't work.

The data told a story nobody was telling: the majority of Kentucky teens don't use substances. Three out of five 10th graders have never vaped. Four out of five don't regularly drink or use marijuana. The kids making good choices are the majority, and no one was telling them.

The brief: celebrate the teens already making the right call. The hard part: reaching an audience that skips every ad and can smell inauthenticity from a mile away.

Our Approach

Instead of fighting the box, we built one.

The Insight: Boxes

The teens kept asking: why does everyone assume the worst about us? That frustration became the campaign. Young people are constantly labeled and put in boxes. NOMOREBOXES flipped that feeling on its head.

The LED Box

A physical box built from LED walls. Real Kentucky teens stepped inside while the walls shifted around them. The message: you've been put in a box your whole life. Now stand inside one and show the world who you actually are.

The Message

The campaign didn't say "don't do drugs." It said "most of you already don't." From fear to pride. From warning to belonging. The right choice isn't the hard choice. It's the normal one.

The Production

No actors. No scripts. Just real Kentucky teenagers.

The LED box was built specifically for this production. Four programmable walls, lighting driven entirely by the panels themselves, a backdrop that was never the same twice.

Every person on screen is a real Kentucky teenager, and the voice-over was pulled from recorded conversations about their lives and choices. You can't fake the way a teenager talks when they actually mean it.

The Website

nomoreboxes.org — the conversion engine behind every ad click.

We designed and built nomoreboxes.org as the engine that turned 210,000 clicks into 1,407 real referrals to local prevention centers.

Interactive Stats Quiz

A swipe-through quiz challenges visitors to guess the real substance use stats for Kentucky 10th graders. Most people guess worse than reality. When the truth lands, the whole campaign clicks into place.

Shareable Social Content

Downloadable social graphics featuring real teens from the campaign, formatted for sharing so teens could spread the message themselves.

County-Level Referral Map

An interactive Kentucky map connects visitors to their local Regional Prevention Center. Every one of the 1,407 referrals flowed through it.

The Result

"The NOMOREBOXES campaign started as a regional video. Then the statewide behavioral agency decided to broadcast it across all of Kentucky."

The best campaigns don't talk at people. They talk with them.

If you need creative that reaches an audience everyone else has given up on, we should talk. We'll find the story that makes them stop scrolling.
